Today I took a walk in Wythenshawe Park to try and inspire myself for my project. I went to a very natural, wooded area of the park where there was no people and really connected with nature the way that the characters in the book, that I'm basing my project around, would. I think the area would have been perfect scenery-wise to the beginning of the book where a fair amount of time is spent in forests. I took some photos and did some observational drawing in my sketchbook using a variety of mediums. Combined with the sun and a bit of skate practice the day felt incredibly productive and good for de-stressing. Some of the photos I took really expressed the beauty of the woods so I included one as part of this blog post just to show the raw natural beauty of this place. One thing that captured me was the shadows cast on the floor of the wood, the shapes of the shadows cast by the leaves and branches on the trees were incredible to look at. |
